The engraving is based on a work by an Italian artist Francesco Vinea (1845-1902). You can even find the same work on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francesco_Vinea
If I can see correctly it says "B Wicker" in the right bottom corner and when searching Google by this name you can find similar boxes which date from the late 19th century which I would have estimated based on the style of the item too.

Many thanks for your reply,I did find that info online before my post,I was hoping there may be more info on B Wicker, is seems there is not much known about him and where and when he worked.I would say your guess on the period it was made it probably correct

I have seen images of a remarkably similar silver plate box from late 19 early 20 century.
It was made by Parisian goldsmith called Jean Bastide, who was working with an engraver called Bernard Wicker at the time.
