What-is-it question LII.

Post by 2209patrick »

This item was made by James Barclay Hennell, London, 1879
This is one of the more unusual shapes for these types of items.
Usually they are roughly 3 inches (7.62cm) high and 5 inches (12.70cm) long.
What is it called?

Here's a clue. This type of item is among Tom's missing from the glossary list.

Here's a couple drawings of silverplated ones from the 1886 Meriden Britannia Company catalog.
The piece on the left more closely resembles the traditional shape.

That's an awfully fancy cigar lighter (lamp)!
