Please help identifying hallmark on antique brooch

Post by Zabava77 »

Hello,
This brooch belongs to my grandmother and can be dated with certainty to before 1940. Please, help to identify the hallmark. Maybe this brooch is even older?

Hi,
Could be French Tete de Mercure (petite garantie) export mark for gold since 1878.
Are there more marks ?
(French maker's marks are always contained within a diamond shaped punch).

I'm sorry but this time I can't agree with Ag 2012. In my opinion this is the non-mandatory mark used in the kingdom of Italy from 1870 to 1935 for the third fineness (800/1000).
