I have found my first silver piece while visiting Uk. I don't have photo capability, and not sure how to tell you what the markings are. As you can guess, I don't have a clue what I'm doing. Any help in telling me what I should do first and how to going about doing it would be appreciated. It's dated 1900 and looks like a zippo lighter.
Thanks

Hello Tony.
I think your best bet is to go through the lists here of British and American marks.
If your match case does not have British hallmarks or the American marks of sterling or 925, then it's probably silverplated.
This site does not have silverplate marks listed. Need a picture to help you if it's silverplated.
