Pensieri Preziosi 15 - Bollmann Collection. Contemporary Jewellery 1970-2019
Until 16th February 2020
Pensieri Preziosi 15, an event promoted by the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Padua with the contribution of the Cassa di Risparmio di Padova and Rovigo Foundation with the aim of making the main research goldsmith schools known to the public, this year offers a selection of works belonging to the most important European collection of contemporary jewelry, that of the Austrian collectors couple Heidi and Karl Bollmann.
The jewelry collection began in 1972: on the occasion of the birth of his first child, looking for a gift that surprised his wife and not being satisfied with what traditional jewelry offered, Karl Bollmann approached the world of contemporary jewelry. Since then, together with his wife, he has combined objects with different styles, different conceptual approaches, original and unusual working techniques.
The thousand and more pieces of the collection, which became such due to the Bollmanns' passion for this particular artistic sector, combined with the desire to support these artists, document what happened in this area, from the 1950s to today, with great masters starting from Peter Skubic, who introduced the Bollmanns to the world of contemporary jewelry. On display it is possible to admire jewels of the most famous and qualified contemporary authors who will be exhibited for the first time in Italy in Padua; a particular tribute is reserved to the authors Bruno Martinazzi (1923-2018) and Manfred Bischoff (1947-2015), to whom the Bollmann spouses have been linked by deep esteem and friendship.
Opening hours: 09:30-12:30 / 15:30-19:00 Daily
Admission: Free
