Silver spoon

Post by PW333abc »

Hello!

I would be very grateful for help. I have a silver spoon made in London in 1833. It has 5 stamps. One of them is the lion. So it should be in Sterling. What I find a bit strange is that it is very hard when trying to bend the shaft. I have other spoons from 830-925 that you can bend easily compared to spoons that are not genuine. The normal thing is that you mix 92.5 percent silver and the rest copper? Could it be that copper has been replaced by some harder material?

Best regards
