J & C 13" Ladle Help

Post by 2blindcats »

Good morning! I just found this site and it's wonderful! I have a 13" ladle that is marked 13 J&C 13 with a crown above the J&C. I think it's coin silver but I'm a total novice when it comes to silver items. I believe they the handle is called "fiddle style". Any suggestions?

Thanks and have a great day!!!

Morning! I'm going crazy trying to figure out this ladle. I know it's really old. Everything I have found with a fiddle style handle has been silver. Is there anyway I can easily test the metal to see what kind of metal it is? A magnet does not stick to it. I took it into work with me yesterday and no one had a clue. Our welder said he thought it was brass but it has a silver finish but there is some yellowing in the bowl but I haven't tried polishing it or anything. I have to assume the makers hallmark is not American with the crown. I'm going to take some pictures tomorrow and post them and hopefully someone will know.

Thanks and again have a great day!
