.800 silver marks help
Hi everyone,
this is my first post on the forum. Hoping that someone can help identify the markings on this small plate. Middle mark is a # 13 which suggests German, underneath the 13 is what seem to be sheep shears. No clue about the other two markings. Thank you in advance.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Your image links do not work. Please embed images rather than posting links and remember to use the 'Preview' button before submitting your post. If your images don't show up there we won't be able to see them either.
https://postimages.org is recommended (click 'Share', then copy and paste the 'Hotlink for forums' code to embed your images). Do not use Photobucket or Dropbox.

Re: .800 silver marks help
Thank you Phil for letting me know. I was having difficulty with the images as I did not have a sharing site. However, I did preview before posting and the link did work for me as it still does. I will try the option you suggested, but I am trying to edit or delete the initial post and I am unable to figure that out...silvermakersmarks wrote:Hi and welcome to the forum.

You can't amend your original post - just add changes as a new reply. You may have been able to view your original images as they were owned by you and you were signed in to Google.

For mark 2: Are you certain this is not a left-hand key under the 13 Loth? This form might suggest a city symbol (German?), but it could be a pseudo-mark version (& reversed from right-handed).
For mark 3: Does it appear to be a crowned-letter (1 cartouche) or a crown-over-letter (2 distinct cartouches) perhaps?
For mark 1: Reaching here...could it be a dual anchor design that might suggest some port or seafaring link?

for mark 2 - it could be a key but it does look more like shears.
mark 3 - it is one cartouche, so if it is a letter - what language?

Sorry, but image of mark 3 is not clear enough to read (assuming others are having similar problem). Examples of crowned marks can be seen in Hanau Pseudo-marks section (themselves derived from antique/defunct authentic marks)...see here: https://www.925-1000.com/Fgerman_hanau_marks_01.html

Here's a thread with some variations of the 13lot/13Loth marks (& the key): viewtopic.php?f=22&t=52292&p=163726&hil ... au#p163726

Re: .800 silver marks help
my initial thought was that this is a Hanau piece. What is throwing me off, is the possibility that the object under '13' is not a key but shears, which would not fit into Hanau?Traintime wrote:Sorry, but image of mark 3 is not clear enough to read (assuming others are having similar problem).
