Hi,
I would greatly appreciate any help with identifying the following marks...
there are only two of them & they are the base on the piece.
The piece itself is a round box (approx 4" in dia.) complete with lid. Around the top of the lid & top & bottom of the base unit is a decorative band made of smaller balls of silver.
The marks themselves are quite well worn.... the first appearing to be of a lion type figure facing to the right with all four feet on the ground, the strange thing is that the neck and head seem quite elongated... almost lama like, also inside the square stamp above the back of the figure are the initials AP.
The second mark is more difficult (if possible) to describe, this is a rectangular stamp with the number 1 quite visible followed by two blobs! one on top of each other, almost like a figue 8 coloured in! this is then followed by two more blobs (slightly smaller) next to each other but level with the top half of the first set of blobs!
Sorry for the vague descripton... all I know is that the box was brought in southern France.
Thanks in advance... ps, have tried photographing the marks... but so far impossible.
