Hello, again. I've got one more question. I understand Duval manufactured Christofle silverplate for a while but am having trouble confirming that. If so, about when would this spoon have been made? When and where was Duval and is it still in business? And, last, what is the emblem on the back top of handle?
The spoon bears the Christofle hallmark with scale and letters "O" and "C".
Thanks very much in advance for any help.

Hello MTC, I think that the engraving Etablissements DUVAL PARIS was an advertising for a big coffee salon for which you will find a picture at following URL http://cnum.cnam.fr/CGI/fpage.cgi?4KY15 ... 324/33/254" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. The following URL http://cnum.cnam.fr/CGI/fpage.cgi?4KY15 ... 324/33/254" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; shows that it was a big chain of seceral restaurants in Paris.
Due to their size, it could have well been that had Christofle to customize their items with their logo.
Duval was active in the XIX century as you can well see from the pictures.
Hope this could help
Best regards
