American? Silver Salt

Post by levrier0 »

Found this in a local shop in TX, Silver salt. I would guess American coin silver.

Its marked ? WELS or WEIS or WELSH.

Any help in identifying would be greatly appreciated - thank you!

I'd guess 'WEISS' - German from perhaps Schleswig-Holstein, maybe Kiel?

Hello, Metavius Weis (Weiss), active in KIel 1830ies to 1860ies, marked M. WEIS. This could be his mark. Regards, Bahner
