Two cups

Post by meyrink »

I would like to ask you for more information about these two cups, which unfortunately have no markings. The manufacturer has obviously gone to a lot of trouble with them, they are in their original packaging.

Hi,
Most probably Eusopean or Persian for Ottoman market, late 19th century.
Find someone who can read Arabic. If he or she can read what is written but cannot undearstand the meaning, there are two options: it is either Ottoman Turkish or Farsi.

::::: Search for "Ottoman Empire Zarf" and you will see how important the Zarf was to the Ottoman Empire, a powerful cultural symbol. :::::
