Wallace Bishop & Son Pty Ltd. - Brisbane - 1939
Established in 1917 by Wallace Bishop.
Wallace Bishop learned his trade in Birmingham and was awarded the Prince of Wales Medal from City and Guilds London for his outstanding craftsmanship in 1897. He also received first class diploma awards from the Birmingham Trade Exhibition in 1898.
Wallace Bishop moved to Australia in 1909 and was employed as a diamond ring maker with Flavelle, Roberts and Sankey Jewellers of Queen Street, Brisbane.
The company acquired Hardy Brothers in 1997.
The firm is still in business and has 50 stores throughout Queensland and NSW and more than 500 employees.
