This huge platter has the Diana head mark for Austria (I can't work out the town letter?). The other mark says LG, I think? (or maybe IO?), could this be Leopold Gapp? There's also a mark on the base, which I'm not sure if it's a mark or just damage!
::::: It's probable that the post just thought "Austro-Hungarian Empire" is the same thing as "Austria" similar to how many posters still believe that "The Soviet Union" is the same thing as "Russia". :::::
It may come as a surprise to many, but Hungary used the above hallmark longer than the Austro-Hungarian Empire. For nearly 20 years after the end of the empire, Austria used a completely different hallmark.
On the other hand, I'm not sure the LG monogram either.
Would it be possible to see a sharp photo with the mark completely cleared?
Best regards!

Thanks for the replies. You’re right, that was lazy of me to say Austria only. (most of my pieces are from Vienna). I’ve got better photos and it does look like a P for Pest. The letters also look more likely to be DT - upside down to the head.
Well, as I guessed, not Austria, but a different country, Hungary, Budapest, Dévai Testvérek (Dévai Brothers) bitween 1923-1937.
It has been operating as an open joint-stock company since 1923.
Best regards!
