Re: Please help me identify the workshop and years of work?
Gitla Regina Kleinmann
Born: ca. 1861, Lublin, Poland, daughter Bernard Kleinmann & Anna Oronson
Married: ca. 1880, Israel Lieco Benvenisti
Died: 25 Feb 1905, Paris
Israel Lieco Benvenisti
Born: 20 Oct 1852, Vienna, son of Abraham Benvenisti & Anaule Levy
Married: ca 1880, Gitla Regina Kleinmann
Died: 20 Feb 1927, Paris
She registered her mark on 4 Oct 1893; there is no cancellation noted for it. Oddly, her husband, Israel Lieco Benvenisti, had registered a mark on 10 Aug 1893, which he cancelled two months later on 20 Oct 1893. This was all evidently soon after the couple and their children emigrated from Vienna. They were naturalized as French citizens in 1904 and were prominent in the Parisian Jewish community of the time. Despite the mark being in his wife’s name, he was evidently still very much in charge of their shop, which continued for two decades after her death, until Jun 1924, when he sold the stock and models of his shop at public auction.
