Thank you for the helpful information on posting. I hope I've got it right this time. If not, any other suggestions, gratefully received.

Here are a couple of links of the item I'm trying to identify. I think its probably just decorative but I'd be interested in any background and of course, information on the hallmark.

Hi,

That is a maker's mark, only, of Carl Deffner of Esslingen, Germany. The business closed in 1959.
