Hi Briana-
Do any of the marks look anything like any of these?

thanks for your reply , but no i cant see the marks in any of those, one of the marks looks like a head of a woman with long hair inside a box with the edges cut off, the other mark you have to turn the spoon upside down to see that its some kind of nieve prancing or walking animal inside a circle...

the location of the marks suggests a Continental origin - perhaps Austrian? While this site's Austrian hallmark http://www.925-1000.com/foreign_marks.html shows the woman's head in a lobate punch, it has at other times been in a five- or six-sided mark that does resemble a box with the corners cut off

Hi,
I've handled a fair number of very similar spoons, all were either unmarked or, when marks were present, they were almost always Dutch pseudomarks or Hanau pseudomarks. The spoon is most likely late 19th or early 20th century and made for sale to the tourist market. Although this doesn't sound promising, some nice items were created in this genre.
Regards, Tom

silver spoon
thanks for your input , the womans head is facing right, and its strange because you have to turn the spoon upside down to get a correct view of the lion but when you turn the spoon upside down the lion is facing right also..the lion looks very much like a dutch mark the administrator told me to look ...you have to look hard to see its a lion its very nieve stamping...

well, that is not Austrian but I have to agree with you that it resembles a stylized American Indian!
