Germany, Hungary, ex russian city. or fantasy marks?

Post by GiulyF »

I’m trying to figure out what city, and silversmith, it might be, any suggestions? It is a weinprobierschale in silver vermeil, although the polylobed shape is slightly different from the usual and is devoid of the usual embossed decorations, It may also be a late nineteenth product of Hanau but I can not find out. could it be a date, 1638 engraved under the base?
I also thought it could be a production of the old Baltic Republics or Hungary but without result, the two punches, the city and the silversmith, near the handle reminds of the German productions of Augsburg and Nurnberg of the seventeenth century-eighteenth..

Thanks for anyone who can point me in the right direction

The halmarks are illegible. Agree with theo, need better photos.
On the other hand, the year is 1682.

Dear Theoderich and huszas thank you for the interest, but these photo of the marks are the better I could do, very little done...I have more entire images of the piece....
Sorry I can't be of more help...
I will need your help again shortly on a piece by Nunrberg for which my bibliography is of no help.

Dear huszas76 I thought the number engraved could be 1638, and the partially written in Roman numerals, XXX...

It would be a very unusual solution to use a mixture of Arabic and Latin numbers, and this wouldn't explain why XXX is lower then the others and why the number 82 is at the end. Or if 1638 as you think, why the 2 at the and.
