Marshall Thompson, receiver for the T. F. Tuttle Silver Co., has filed his petition to sell all the assets at auction, and creditors and other persons interested are cited to appear in the Superior Court at the equity session, Wednesday, Dec. 26, and show cause, if any they have, why the petition of the receiver should not be granted.

Receiver of T. F. Tuttle Silver Co. Turns Business Over to New Owners After Paying All Creditors

Boston, Mass., Jan. 5. — After having the receivership of the T. F. Tuttle Silver Co. for eight weeks Marshall P. Thompson turns the concern over to the new owners,, the Rogers Co., with every creditor paid, $2,500 new orders booked, and no impairment of the plant or equipment.

The receiver reports that it was a prosperous concern, the request for a receiver arising from internal dissensions solely. Mr. Thompson pays a high tribute to the character of the jewelry trade as a whole, saying that he has never come in contact with a finer class of business men in his experience as an attorney in cases of business settlements heretofore.

The Rogers Co., incorporated a few days ago for the purpose of taking over the T. F. Tuttle Co., which recently went into the hands of a receiver, has secured the plant, and succeeds to the business of the latter concern. George V. Rogers is the president of the new company, and Warren E. Van Wert is treasurer. Mr. Rogers is the proprietor of the Holmes & Blanchard Co., machinery manufacturers, this city, and is identified with a number of other important enterprises. Mr. Van Wert is associated with him at the headquarters of the machinery concern. The plant at Malden has been reopened, and is to have an increased force of workmen. For the present the office of the Tuttle company, in the Washington building, and the workrooms there, will be retained by the Rogers Co.

A massive chalice and paten, the work of the Tuttle Silver Co., is to be presented to the national shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D. C. The chalice is a reproduction of one made in 1479 in Somerset, England, and is a memorial to James W. Dunphy, once a well-known Boston newspaperman. It is an example of pure Gothic art and the ornamentation on knob and base is also faithful to the work of that period. One of the six compartments of the foot of the chalice has the figure of the Crucifixion superimposed on its surface, and replacing the traditional representations of the nails in the Saviour’s hands and feet, are three diamonds of finest quality. The chalice is made of gold.

The $500 Bermuda Cup offered by the city of Boston as a prize on Labor Day was presented to the winner, Hollis Burgess, Friday evening, Oct. 27, at the house of the Mosquito Fleet Yacht Club, by ex Commodore Cyrus K. Small. At the wish of Mr. Burgess the cup, which was manufactured by the Tuttle Silver Mfg. Co., will be raced for next Labor Day under the auspices of the Quincy Yacht Club.

B. A. Dolan, of the Tuttle Silver Co., is planning to hold an exhibition of products of this concern at the Parker House shortly, after which he will proceed on a tour through the east and south. The company is now installed in its new premises, a five-story factory at 107. W. Newton St., but maintains a down-town office in its old quarters at 21 Bromfield St. H. W. Chadwick, watch repairer, has transferred his business to quarters in this office.

Roxbury district jewelers, including William L. Russell and S. G. Brooks & Son, have executed orders for prize cups to be awarded at the Roxbury Day celebration, July 4, this year, for which an elaborate parade and sports program is in preparation. Many of these prizes have been made in the factory of the Tuttle Silver Co., which is also making holiday trophies for the town of Brookline, and for the coming field day of the Odd Fellows.
