Hello. I have this interesting set that I don't know anything about it. I know only that it is chalice and paten. Maybe someone can tell me when, where, and from what material it might be made. There are no silver marks. Also maybe someone is familiar with this coat of arms or can read what is written on the bottom? Thank you in advance.
Maybe silver chalice with paten

Forgot to mention. This set was bought in Latvia. Maybe this will help.

Re: Maybe silver chalice with paten
It looks like the inscription is in Latin and probably tells more about the chalice. I can see the year 1750 and AO DNO (Anno Domini) before it the word Calicem (chalice) so probably someone donated the chalice to a church to commemorate something. If you could decipher more of the text or provide better images it would be helpful. I doubt it's silver though.

Sasropakis is right
It can be read
Obtulerunt hunc calicem parentes eius
His parents offered this chalice
and also the name LUDOVICA (DORRO..NA???)
However, the edge was heavily clipped and I was unable to read other writings.
I think it could be silver instead.
You won't do much harm by doing the acid test under the foot

Another thing that is always good to do on an antique chalice is to observe the thread of the connecting screw. From the photo you posted it appears that the thread pitch is very small, which suggests that the cup was replaced recently.

Hello. Thank you everyone for your reply. Sorry, I was sick and couldn't answer. Here are the extra photos that you have requested.Sasropakis wrote: ↑Wed Sep 20, 2023 8:54 am It looks like the inscription is in Latin and probably tells more about the chalice. I have checked it for the silver. It has 50-60% of it.
