Hi Aleks,
In my opinion silver-plated, Hans Jensen mark, the Dolphin. What appears to be a hare within a barrel frame-shape perhaps not a Belgian responsibility mark. As of 1942, a Belgian responsibility mark for precious metal must be accompanied by an appropriate fineness mark.

Re: attribution
Your brush, then the third mark, far right shoud be the number 1,2 or 3, indicating the standard of fineness. If it one of these numbers it is indeed silver.

Re: attribution
oel-Thank you so much for your attention to the topic, but the fact is that the owner of the brush handed over the samples to the jeweler for verification and the jeweler said-SILVERPLATE.
Re: attribution
At your brush,to be frank I do not recognize a standard number 1,2 or 3. I do not know if the jeweler draw his conclusion silver-plated, by looking at the marks only, or draw his conclusion after performing a proper (acid) silver test? The owner always can go for a second opinion.
As you already know, the Belgian barrel responsibility mark for precious metal, must be accompanied by a proper fineness mark or standard mark either with a number 1,2 or 3. The marks are self applied by silversmith/importer or retailer.

Re: attribution
oel-Thanks for the addition.
Re: attribution
oel-They gave the product to another jeweler and the answer was silver plated.Thank you again for your help.
Re: attribution
Aleks, perhaps this proves the barrel shaped Belgian responsibility mark, registered by the Royal Mint of Belgium, was also used on silver plated items but without a self applied unofficial standard mark.

Re: attribution
Aleks, the number 2 on the ashtray should stand for 2nd standard silver (835/000). It is a self applied unofficial silver standard.
