Hello Members
Seasons greetings to all and a happy new Year.
Re one of my old posts about signature on back plate on silver box,Still on my mission ,have made it a bit clearer by adding dark powder in engraving.
The name looks like Jrunen Chanier to me.
Any clues ,if name French or some thing else? Do I have the first name correct?
any opinions would be appreciated. Regards Guido.

Re: Re signature on back plate of box ?
The first name (?) looks like Innen to me which wound mean "inside" in German. But this doesn't make much sense if Chanier is supposed to be a French surname. Just wondering how the engraving is placed and if it was meant to be seen at all? It doesn't really look like a well made engraving of the owner's name.
Re: Re signature on back plate of box ?
Maybe, badly engraved, INNEN CHARNIER (inside hinge) ??

Hi Sasropakis and Amena.
Many thanks to you both for your comments.
For Sasropakis if you see my original post ,Interesting Enamel box ,Aug 28 2023 Other countries. You will get the full picture of the back plate where the signature is.Unfortunately the photos have been deleted .
Imurg is down ,so I cannot show you pictures (will do later)
Back plate removable (very unusual )to cover rear of enamel plaque ,looks like some errors in manufacturing ,mix up with plaque size and box maker (box opening a bit to small not showing all white enamel on plaque properly.
Originally 2 black enamel lines around top edge (i have removed silver past inner black line ,to make opening bigger to show white enamel all around.)
now only 1 black line,I feel looks much better. will show you before and after, later, with images.
Signature may be that of plaque maker and or fitter. Is the first letter a J or I ,are some other letters not all N but M and I ?
All a bit of a mystery.
Regards Guido
