Coin Silver? spoon

Post by hpidaves »

At first, I thought this 4-3/4 spoon might be British sterling, but the close I look, the less I think that. Any idea as to country of manufacture, maker, and/or year?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,

Image
Dutch Mocha spoon from left to right, maker's mark JV under a silversmith's torch for Jan van der Velden, registered silversmith in Amsterdam 1839-1856. Lion passant above 2, 2nd standard silver 833/1000, followed by the assay office mark or Minerva head with regional assay office letter A for Amsterdam. Followed by the year letter L for 1845
