GH&Co Possible Gustav Hellstrom mark

Post by Essexboy Fisher »

Hello I recently came across a souvenier type spoon and it is pictured below together with its markings.

The 830 mark on the rear of the stem suggested Scandinavian manufacture to me. After a bit of searching on 925-1000 I came across “G.H” for “Gustav Hellstrom” in the Norwegian makers section. Not the same as my mark so more digging required. There was a post on this forum about “Gustav Hellstrom” but the cutlery noted there had the full name of the maker featured. A further net search found the silversmith company “Gustav Hellstrom and Company” formed by Gustav Fredrik Hellstrom in 1902 from his dead father “Gustav Wilhelm Hellstrom’s” silversmith business. Based in Stavanger, “Gustav Hellstrom and Company” finished activity in 1957. I believe the “G.H&CO” on my spoon indicates manufacture by the second “Gustav Hellstrom”.
Are there any other views from the forum to give firmer information to me and other possible researchers.

Yours
