Dublin Spoon Crest, Raised Arm with Sword & Flor de Lis

Hello, I recently bought a Dublin hallmarked spoon with a nice crest on the finial. It is worn but appears as an armoured bent left arm with a sword adorned with a flor de lis. The base could be a coronet?



I did find a family name that could be associated with the crest, but the source was from a USA site that "sold" crests. I would wish for a second identification from an alternative independent source. I hope that could be our knowledgeable Forum.

I browsed through Fairbairn's Book of Crests (can be found online if you wan't to try your luck) but couldn't find exactly similar crest there. There are many crests with an armoured hand holding a sword but I didn't find one with fleur de lis. Could you give the name you found so that I could check if it has any valid connection? I'm not sure if the crest has a coronet used by peers (they have usually a cap inside the circlet) or simply a crown not pointing out to a specific rank.

Thank you Sasropakis for your reply, and thank you for using the alternative "fleur de lis" name. I had meant to incorporate it myself in my post. The name that I had turned up was "Mahony" and associated "kin". It was definitely from the suggested area but corroboration is always hoped for.

Fairbairn's Book of Crests gives the following entries:

"Mahony, George Philip Gun. B.A., of Kilmorna. Listowel, co. Kerry, Ireland, out of the coronet of a Count of France a dexter arm in armour embowed grasping in the hand a sword, all ppr., hilt and pommel or, the blade piercing a fleur-de-lis of the last. Lasair romhuin a buadh.
Mahony, Harold Segerson, B.A., of Dromore Castle, Kenmare, co. Kerry, same crest and motto.
Mahony, John Moore, Esquire, J.P., same crest and motto."

So I'm pretty sure this is the correct identification of the crest. There are so many elements and they all match. But it's not possible to say for sure which member was the original owner but maybe you can make some additional research and find out which living years or other details would match the age of the spoon.

Thank you Sasropakis for your research to confirm the Mahony name's connection to my spoon. I think I need to look 1 or 2 generations back from the names offered by Fairbairn. My spoon's hallmark has no duty mark so must be prior to 1807 and although rubbed I have a date of 1797 with possible maker mark “J.K”, maybe James Keating (or A.N.Other). There seems to be a little confusion about Dublin J.K / I.K's around that late 18th century period.
