Please help me

I am not sure where this comes from whether American, British or other.

The first marking is a crown, the second I believe is a lion (head to the right), the third is an S and the fourth is somewhat of a W with an extra line halfway down off of the right upward strok (looks like a line of mountains).

Crown and Right Facing Lion Passant

Post by SilverSurfer »

Relatively few countries used a right facing lion passant, notably the Netherlands and Canada (pseudo-hallmark), though I see no match there for your marks. Of course, the Brit sterling lion faces left. The crown mark makes me think it isn't American, as this was an unpopular symbol during and after the Revolutionary War. The French loved crown marks, but not lion passants, and the Germans made use of lion rampants. Sorry, not a lot of help, but my guess is European of some sort. Good luck!

What is your mark on? Any chance of a photo of the complete piece? There is a possibility that this is a Chinese export pseudomark.
