Old Fork from Somewhere

Post by richsteckler »

Hi everyone,

This fork is old, and I do not recognize the marks. One looks like a bird holding a snake under a crown. Another is an "A" under a crown. Anyone know what these are? It appears that there might be one mark that has been filled in. Thanks

Rich

Hi,

It's Dutch.

The maker is Rutgerus Memeling, the stork is the town mark of Den Haag (The Hague) and the dateletter is that of 1772.

Wow

Thanks very much for the information, that is very cool. Do you know what the purity of the silver is?

Hi,

833/000 (934/000 if there is another mark with a crowned lion).
