This silver tray shows a lot of craftmanship, however I cannot determine the marks on it. So I need some help here.
Thanks in advance!
Silver tray, Maker?
Re: Silver tray, Maker?
The name seems to me to be; G van der Kruk. In Rotterdam around 1938 to 1999, G. van der Kruk Sr. and Jr. were active as jeweller/silversmith and retailer/importer. Here you see the Amsterdam city hallmark with an overlay of G van der Kruk retailer's mark. I.E the small k above the = sign stands for van der (k).
We know that, to say the least, there is some animosity between true Rotterdammers and Amsterdammers. Dorus' song from the sixties with the chorus, do you know what a Rotterdammer likes most about Mokum That's the last train to Rotterdam, even the smallest child knows that. But to mutilate the city mark of Amsterdam with a retailer's mark really goes too far for me.
G. van der Kruk Sr, registered in Rotterdam 1938-1967
G. van der Kruk Jr. registered in Rotterdam 1954-1999
Perhaps the maker's mark of Dirk van Nulck I, registered in Amsterdam, 1743-1809, over-struck with a crowned W (?), The crowned W perhaps a reference to Queen Wilhelmina 40th jubilee in 1938 or 50th jubilee in 1948? I don't know and would like to hear others' opinions.
The deformed triangle mark is a later duty mark for imports, crowned V in triangle, the mark was sometimes mistakenly used on objects of national origin. Valid from 1893 till 1953.

Thanks Peter! Indeed this is a strange action of the Kruk family...
