Odiot oil vinegar set

Hi,

I have got an oil vinegar set shown below.

There are marks as depicted in the photo.

On the frame, there is only an Odiot mark (the first to the left) but not the Minerva mark.
On the stoppers, there are both Minerva (in the midde) and maker's marks (to the right).
I have learnt that the the latter most probably belongs to Francois Julien Doyen active 1852-1870 in Paris. I have learnt also that the Odiot mark is either from the 19th century or quite new as they started to use it again in the fifties of the last century. Although bottles and stoppers fit reasonably well I am not at all sure they are an original set. Last thing I learnt: Odiot (sometimes?) did not put the Minerva mark on items meant for export.
I wonder if the cruet frame is made of silver (it definitely looks like), and when it was made: in the 19th century or much later.
Any help will be much appreciated.

Yes, made of silver. 19e Century.

The piece by Odiot is certainly of silver because A. Odiot never made silver-plated items and B. The lozenge-shaped maker's mark is reserved for items made in precious metals. Anything made of base metals is required to other-shaped marks, generally squares.

Or maybe doublè is something slightly different from silverplate ?

Doublé is a gold-plated object that is basically made of another metal. If it’s basically silver there should be a silvermark as well.
I have never seen the mark “Doublé” on a solid silver object. Of course there is gilded silver, but then the object is hallmarked with silver hallmarks.

My plate warmer is not gold in color, but silver in color. The metal underneath is copper.

The Odiot maker’s mark of O with an oil lamp as symbol was used 1865-1894, and then again after 1956. In my opinion your cruet stand dates from the late 19thC. The cruets with their lids are by another maker, and therefore are not original to the stand. To my knowledge Odiot did not subcontract with Doyen.

I agree with @oel that your plate warmer is silver plate.

Odiot is the maker.
