Christofle-Baccaret set. Please can you help Name and Date?

Post by jennyinislington »

Hi - I know these two pieces are Christofle and Baccarat (the silver plated dish base is hallmarked, see below) and the crystal pot has Baccarat stamped onto the base, but which is impossible to photograph. The lid is also silver plated but unmarked.

Can anyone tell me what a set like this is called? I thought it might be for jam/conserves, although there is no gap in the lid for a spoon to poke through. Also, I'd be grateful for an indication of possible date.

Many thanks.

Your CC, scales, oval in a square mark was used from 1862 to 1935.

Thank you for the info Pat, very kind of you to take the trouble.

Now, all I need to know is what this item is commonly called? Anyone?

Just wondering how big it is.
My first thought, if it's small, was honey.

It is quite small - the pot stands 3.5" high to the top of the lid, and the diameter at the base is 2.5". It could be honey I guess, but I suppose you could put anything in it for the table!
