Warsaw Poland silver information

Post by iangillmore »

I have a set of silver flatware that was made in Warsaw Poland. It has a profile of a girl with a scarf tied in the back, a 3 on one side and a w on the other, all in an oval. I can't take a picture of the mark because it's so small, I had to get a jewelers magnifying glass to look at it.

It is the exact mark as shown under the European Marks > Foreign Hallmarks > Poland on this website.

I can't find any information out on who made it or when it was made.

Hi I take it that the girl looks to the right.
That is a modern silver mark 800/000 from Warsaw (after 1963).

She looks to the left

Hello, thank you for talking with me on this.

The girl clearly looks to the left, some of the 3's are sharply written and others are more rounded. I have a full matching set of flatware. They each have the hallmark and they also have a WWS stamped on them.

Hi,

The face to the left is indeed somewhat older, started at 1920.
