This compote- or candy dish, is marked with the logo of Frank M. Whiting & co. I have looked it up in The Online Encyclopedia, and there I can read that this company was incorporated and later purchased by the Ellmore Silver Company of Meriden, CT in 1897.
Were they still marking with their own hallmark after that time? Can you tell by the hallmark how old an item from this company might be?
The hallmark on my dish isn't quite like the ones I found in the encyclopedia. Is it possible to say how old my dish is?
