I have acquired this salver and am trying to find out if this is American made or foreign made. It appears to be handwrought. I was told that this may possibly be made out of coin silver.
There are marks located on the back, which appear to have been punched in, S.S. fi P. and two other marks that I cannot decipher what they are. I have searched in books, websites, etc., and have found no information about who this maker is or what these marks are. These marks do not look like other marks that I have seen in the books or on this website. Could these marks be who the maker was or could these marks have been who the owner was. I purchased this at an antique store here in the Charleston, SC area if this will help in identifying this item.
Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
