Hi
Here is a spoon from Norway engraved with the year 1891. It has initials "N.F." and a rampant lion in a crest. The lion appears to be holding an ax. I didn't see this mark in the online encyclopedia. Any info would be appreciated.
Norske løve - is the name of the lion. Norwegian Lion translated. The danish kings/quens shield contains a number of symbols. Among them is Norske løve with the (special) axe. See here for the lion: http://www.gladsaxegymnasium.dk/2/trankebar/norsk.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Hi
Your spoon is made by a norwegian workshop in Kristiania (Oslo) called Norsk Filigransfabrikk. Estbl. 1889 - closed down 1906. Reestabl. 1910 and fin. closed in 1931. Firstly they used the mark on your spoon and later they have a shield with NF in.
