Small silver box

Post by Roger007 »

Hello all,
Can anyone identify this small box and give me an idea of it's age? It is made from a very heavy metal (possibly solid silver) has a hinged lid and no hallmarks. Could it be a snuff box?
Thanks
Roger

It's a cast brass reproduction of an Art Nouveau stamp box, have run across dozens in the last few years.

One small query. It looks like silver not brass.

Hi Rog,

Perhaps it's my monitor, but the piece appears to be a pale brass to me, if it's more silvery in person then it may have been plated. I've seen this design on boxes of varying quality (they often show up at markets here in Florida), a quick google or online auction search for brass stamp box should bring up several examples of the same box.
