German unknown maker's mark of IP

Post by oel »

Dear Forum,

Please could anyone confirm if the ‘racing horse’ mark is indeed the correct city mark for Stuttgart used in the mid 18TH century? If so good anyone identify the maker’s mark IP
See pictures.

Thanks I think, according to Tardy page 47; this city mark of Stuttgart has been used between 1700/60. The box is a good example of rococo style chased work and bright cut engraving.
I do hope we can find the name of the silversmith with the maker’s mark IP
