I am stumped by the three part hallmark on the back of a beautiful footed shell dish. The hallmark is in three parts: the profile of a horse's head inside a shield, a decorative design inside an almost clover shaped design, and three birds inside a shield.
The piece must have been for seafood, because the three feet that support the dish are fish!
On the top side of the dish there is an etching of what appears to be a griffin, clawing at something or someone in profile! Could be a dragon.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

If you haven't identified your piece, compare the mark you described against that of Friedman Silver Co (Brooklyn NY).

I have two smaller pieces with exactly the same markings as the one you describe. Did you ever identify yours? I would love to know, altho many years have passed. Marta
