Mark appears Italian, but it isn't clear enough for positive ID.

Thank you! I know that it is an italian sterling silver piece, but I would like to know the silvesmith who has that number in Firenze province.

Regards.

Hi Cristina,

I checked on a source that shows current silversmiths registered in Italy, but came up with nothing for 236 FI, so all I can tell you is that they no longer appear to in business.

As far as I know, there is no source that lists Italian makers by their registered numbers prior to 1990 or so. If anyone is aware of such a resource; web, book, article, whatever, please let us know.

Hello everyone.

I have an idea, but need someone who can write/read Italian.
Below is a link to an Italian Association of Jewelry Designers.
Might be worth a try to contact them for information on registration numbers.

Hi,

I just contacted a goldsmith and fellow gemmologist in Rome and there was a book named "I marchi nazionali" published by publisher: River, Via pizzolati, 104 - 36100 Vicenza - Italy. http://www.river.vi.it" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

His is a 1999 version and 5 days ago he contacted them for an updated version, but they will not publish it anymore.

Hello,
we don't publish anymore "I marchi nazionali", so we are sorry, but we don't
know how you can acquire a copy.
Best regards,
RIVER Srl
Thought it was worth a shot, title is now on the used bookshop hunt list. Thanks, Doos.
