In 1970 Reed & Barton introduced a new type of silverplated holloware that was popular into the early 1980's.
The example below is the result of etching and depositing layers of copper, brass and silver.
A black nickle oxide is left in the crevices, after being polished off the surface, and outlines the design.
This process creates a three-dimentional effect of constantly changing colors.

These plates are usually 11 inches ( 27.94 cm. ) in diameter.
What did Reed & Barton call them ?

The Reed & Barton Damascene process applied modern techniques to this ancient craft that was popular in Damascus Syria.
