The Sheffield Silver Company

Post by Gerri »

I have an item that consists of three pieces: a silver top and silver bottom with a wood handle plus a glass insert that reads Made In U.S.A Ovenware The bottom is marked "The Sheffield Silver Company" on the back. A research of your site did not reveal any like this. Could someone tell me what the item is actually called (chaffing dish? warming dish?) plus enlighten me on the marking please.

Hi Gerri,

Welcome to the Forum.

The Sheffied Silver Co. was formed in 1908, they specialized in silver plated holloware. They became a division of Reed & Barton in 1974.

Sorry, I'm not sure what they called your piece.

Trev.
