ID Request for Modernist Necklace DENMARK "D.S."

Post by aranya »

Dear Folks,

I need assistance to identify the maker of enclosed photographed necklace. I have reviewed this sites records of Danish maker hallmarks and cannot get a match for name and era style. You assistance appreciated.

Hallmarks read:

"D.S."
"HANDMADE"
"DENMARK"

Thanks,

Chris

Hi,
Don't believe this jeweler ever worked in silver or gold, therefore would not have registered a maker's mark.

Tom,

The pendant and the chain both test as silver. Do you think it is possible that this person did not work consistently and thus did not register?

Just a thought....

Believe your testing method may be off. Maker did work consistently, over the years, I've come across 8 or 10 pieces with the same marks, all were plated, none marked 925S.

As sterling and 925S stamps are readily available in Denmark, not to mention very inexpensive, what does a maker stand to gain by marking a piece extensively (as was done here) and then neglecting to take the trouble of adding the most prestigious mark?
