Hi,
Can anyone identify these marks on an apparently silver goblet which has the following Spanish or Portugese inscription: 'Ao Club de Regatas 6 de Janeiro 1875 Transportes Urbanos'. It stands 7 1/2" (19cm) in height.
The inscription is in Portuguese language; but not maker's mark and alloy mark 14 = 875/1000. So the object is maybe out of foreign production.
It's necessary to research sport competitions reports too - which is dated here - in Lusophone area e.g. Portugal itself, but also Brasil, Macau, Timor ...
Hi silverport,
Thanks for confirming the inscription is Portuguese and thanks for jogging my memory regarding the '14=875/1000'. This is the old 'Loth' standard of the Germans and Austro Hungarians. You have given me scope for further research.
Thanks,
Tom.
