Thank you for the information regarding the year cycle . That was new to me, interesting indeed. However, I'm more interested in imperial Russian silver but the Soviet era and its marks is unavoidably there and cannot be overlooked.

No, I'm not a book collector but you need certain books in this hobby. The books you mentioned could interesting, thanks for the hints.

the mark of manufacturer 9KXK: 9 for 1969 and the KXK for Кубачинский Художественный Комбинат, "Kubachensky Khudozestwenny Kombinat" (Kubachy Artistic Handicraft Factory)
Purity mark 875 is of Moskow assay ofice, which provides this service for the Kubachy Factory.
Very familiar goblet whith the same mark was bought by friend in USSR in official government run shops in early 70's (before 1979).

Dear Tom,

To answer your question, I have just received a reply that states that the electrostatic method of hallmarking was introduced in 1965.

Dear Bronia,

Most likely this goblet has been made for years in Russia by the company that you noted and is listed in "Catalog of Hallmarks on Items in Precious Metals, 1917-2000 (USSR and Russia)". N. Troepol'skaya. C. 2006, Moscow. look on pg 263, #4337, it lists Кубачинский Художественный Комбинат with the mark - .9KXK as 1979.

This book is the continuation of P & L. I highly recommend it.
