Post by BJT37 »

Bit of a long shot but I'll will be amazed if anyone can help
with these faded hallmarks on a scent bottle.
I think the maker is WHW?

Hello,
On the assumption that the much worn marks on the silver top show it was sent to the London Assay office by WHW in 1894 there are two candidates in William H Walter and Walter H Webber.
John Culme's book on London Gold & Silversmiths indicates their two marks were almost identical in 1894 and both retailed silver topped bottles. With the wear on the WHW mark it isn't possible to differentiate.
