Unusual Knife & Fork Set

Hi,

Here is an unusual knife and fork set.



Assayed at Birmingham in 1850 and made in their first year of registation at the Birmingham Assay Office by Joseph Foxall & Co (Joseph Foxall, George Foxall & Charles Perrins) of 52, Lionel Street, Birmingham.



But what was the purpose of this tiny set? They are too large for a doll's house and too small for child's first knife and fork.

Could they possibly be a traveller's sample?

Suggest they are a fruit knife and fork... often these were made as folding items and occasionally can be found on a well known online auction site. Best wishes, Mike.
