European Ladle? with Figural Finial

Post by saralee »

I would like to know anything that you can tell me about this ladle. The origin or country; and the maker if that is possible; an approximate date would be very helpful. The ladle measures 8 1/4" long. It has a face on both sides of the finial. It surface tested with Schwertsers for silver content of about .900 silver. The only hallmarks are shown in the second photo. Sometimes the "H" mark looks like a backward "N" or a "K". The "B" mark sometimes looks like a "3" or a bird? Thank you, Saralee

Thank you so very much for the quick reply and the much needed information. Do you have any idea who the figure on the finial is supposed to represent?
Thanks again,
Saralee
