Hallmarks on shaving brush

Post by slcsteve »

There are 3 marks as well as a makers name on the bottom of the brush. The mark on the right is the profile of a seated lady. The letter is 'N' and the other mark is the profile of a lion. Any info or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there.
What you appear to have is a Britannia silver item which has a date letter for London 1928-9..... Britannia silver is of higher grade than the usual sterling 925. As I remember it is around 958 parts pure but don't quote me on that.
Best wishes, Mike.

One more question. Can anyone provide information on the maker. The marking is 'B.M.C. Ltd' enclosed in a rectangular frame.

thanks again.
