Hi - any thoughts as to who the maker of this lemon strainer might be. Appears to be hallmarked for London 1723 - I love the cat like lion passant. Maker's mark a little rubbed could be IA or even HA or MA or any letter before the A that has a straight downward stroke on the right.
Many thanks Frank
These marks on the bowl of the strainer
The lion passant on the handles

Help with the maker of this George I lemon strainer

Hello Frank,
As you indicate the wear on the maker's mark may mean the letter apparently an "I" could originally have been something else but Grimwade's comment on page 420 in Albright's biography says "From the surviving occurence of marks (he) appears to have specialized in the making of punch ladles and strainers" which adds weight to Stewart's suggestion.
Regards,
Mike
