Norway hallmarked signed sword pin - ID maker please?

Post by redmill »

2 1/4" or 56mm sword pin marked Noway - Hallmarks are flowers, castle, and a letter - but I am not sure what the makers mark is.

Your picture of the marks is very grainy on my monitor, but it looks like there might be some Edinburgh, Scotland marks. The style of the piece is very similar to Scottish Iona-style sword & shield brooches.

Thank you - pin is similiar to Scottish pins I see on the web and the ship similiar too.

The mark looks like it might be John Hart.

A piece of the same design is shown on the alexander-ritchie site with 1968 Edinburgh marks, made by John Hart.

My pin looks exactly like the John Hart one on the Alexander Ritchie site!!

Thank you so much! It's great to learn new things - I never was even aware of Scottish jewelry/designs.
