Help identifying 4 marks

Post by lorddice »

I have two candlestick holders gold in color, with the same marks and insciptions, four each in total. It shows that these holders were made in Warsaw and that the process known as galvanization was used. Inscribed in the oval mark on one of the feet is," RZODKIEWICZ ZABOWS" in upper case on the top just inside the oval circle. In the middle of the circle there is a lower case "w" and next to that in upper case is "WARSZAWIE". Under the word WARSZAWIE, is the word "GALW". To the left of the word GALW. is a mark or stamp with four square dots in a square pattern. On the bottom just inside the oval circle is the number "1" and next to that on the right in upper case is the word "SURZYCKI". On another foot is a stamp a smaller oval circle with the letters "TS" inscribed inside. On another foot, the numbers "106C or 10CC". Just inside of the holders about an inch up from the bottom, the numbers 116 are inscribed. These holders have been in my family for 40 years. I inherited them from my mother. I know there is more than enough here to desribe the markings, but I would relly be interested in learning more about the inscriptions inside the larger oval circle. If anyone knows what the words represent for example the artist or company that made these holders and the year they were made, I would greatly appreciate your input. Thanking you in advance for your help.

Your candlesticks are made from a low grade Nickel silver

Post by silverport »

Hello

Welcome to the forum.

Please be attending that not all readers and contributors have a “wide screenfrom the Pacific to the Atlanticthank you for your future comprehension.

Your candlesticks are cast ones; made from a low grade Nickel silver — hence the golden shine, like brass be polished. Because the »GALW« = Electro Plated Silver is already lost on almost places — except some remained e.g. inside the base.

They were made by R(oman?) Zodkiewicz Zabows, in Warsaw. Some where, in the circle of the inner town surrounding little workshops and industry, like Fraget (Plated - today HEFRA), Henneberg (Plated - today HEFRA), Norblin (Plated), Roman Plewkiewicz (Plated - for WMF, Germany), and Werner i Ska. (Silver articles).

The numerals are most times model numbers.

The signification of some Polish words I couldn’t explain — my nanny teached me this second language; but from Epiphany 1946 on I’ve forgotten totally when we were expulsed.

»google translator« is here just so stupid as I was in my first pampers; sorry.

Kind regards silverport
